Early large redware bird toy whimsy. Made on the potters wheel but hand manipulated probably mid 19th century. Made from redware clay covered in a clear lead glaze incised details. 6" long, 3 3/4" tall . Great piece ,for similar pieces see the collection of PA German antiques in the Philadelphia Musuem of Arts publication or a variety of other books on the subject. Made in SW PA or MD. Perfect condition.
