Good old early shorebird used as a hunting decoy back before the shooting of most migratory shore birds was outlawed sometime around 1911.Im not sure of the exact date. I believe this to be a Yellow Legs once common throughout the East cost probably New Jersey.Back in those early days any bird was "game" for dinner song birds included. This one has been shot like many.Sportsman ship was not on the mind of many hunters so shooting them on the ground was common. This one got blasted there are a dozen scares some on the head and bill.The bird is an early example completely original the Bill is mortised through the head for added strength. sold with out the stand. 13 inches long, 4.5" tall
