Very Early Cast Iron Candle Holder

Year: 18th century

Weight:1.5 lbs

Very early probably American Large cast iron candle holder.I honestly have no idea just how early this is but Id say mid to early 18th century.The casting method appears to be a  method when molten iron was poured into a clay or sand mold .These molds only lasted long enough to produce only a few pieces before a new mold would have to be made to make others. The Crude saucer base is 9 3/4 inches diameter, the total height is about 2 inches, the socket itself is 2 inches diameter. I have never seen anything like it outside of a museum or literature on the subject it surly a rare and early example of household lighting during Colonial times.
