18th or 19th century chip carved wall box with a hand wrought hook for hanging.I think the photos can tell you more. Origin unknown no question to its age.The surface is as good is it can be,It may have been a pipe box thats my first guess but there are other possibilities,candles taper sticks? the back board looks like Oak maybe Chestnut the rest of the wood is to dark for me to tell.It has a great feel when handled.
