RARE Early Cast Iron Drinking Vessel

Year: 18th century - early 19th century

Weight:5 lbs

Very rare drinking vessel in the form of a pitcher without a pouring spout.Seldom seen in any medium.I have owened early glass cans. Can is an 18th century term for this form often mistaken for a pitcher.Probably made at one of many iron forges either in New Jersey or Philadelphia.Purely speculation on my part never seeing another in iron. An early piece Southern NJ had several well know iron works during the Revolution and other early wars. Batsto had a couple there were also one or two on the early waterways at that time making cannon ball and the like.A rare find found in Woodbury Gloucester County NJ. 8 1/4" tall
