Early 19th century spill or "fuzees" holder. Fuzees" were invented in 1832 as were "wax vistas" both early match like lighting devices replacing "spill".This was Found in Connecticut. The Connecticut River Valley was a favorable source for tobacco dating back centuries.Finely hand carved in the form of a bundle of cigars, 5 1/2" high. I think it's made of Walnut. Super patenia. First half of the 19th century. Possibly from an early tobacco shop for lighting cigars. Many wooden cigar store Indians are portrayed holding such a bundle.
