A fine example of a scrimshawed revolutionary war period rum keg or canteen with provenance. Cow horn about 5” long nicely carved by the owner with his name “Abraham Dodge” and the date “May 1777”. The decoration is varied and it wraps around as was typical .There are the sun above a primitive group of Indian hunters with a deer some brush and trees. going around there is a large sailing ship on the ocean and a mermaid below. The stoppers look old if not the original. A group of copied documents include Dept. of Interior . price is firm S & I included .
