Samuel Wistar was the son of Caper Wistar Jr and Maria Wistar who married Nov 11th 1765. Casper jr.was the son of Casper Wistar button maker and founder of the Wistarburgh glass factory in 1739. Samuel was born in 1780 and died in 1812. The Wistars were Quakers he was probably born in Chester County Pennsylvania. This original silhouette and others were purchased from a direct descendant of CW providence available. Signed but I cant make it out. Others in the group were cut at the Peale museum in Philadelphia.
