Opalescent milk glass toy chicken whimsy. The tradition of making bird whimsys goes back centuries in the 18th century they were used os finals on the lids of sugar bowls, mantel ornaments and toys. The same tradition is found in redware the variations are endless. I have always been drawn to these things i have never seen one in the opalescent glass.This one is 4 3/4" tall , 5: wide, 2 1/5" thick. applied amber eyes, it appears to have had a waddle under the beak but its long gone there is also a chip in the wing. It displys very nicely.Enquire!
