Early 20th century MACKEREL sign probably hung outside a seafood store or roadside. Mackerel are caught off the coast of New Jersey in the month of May being a seasonal fish in the NJ area this sign would have been hung during that time advertising the fresh Makerel for sale. 24" long 6"high about 1" thick. Double sided one sign is brighter than the other. The old shellac has yellowed over the years.
