Rare New Jersey ice fishing flags or markers. These 2 came from a tackle box of a gentleman at on time living in Southern New Jersey. I wish I had more of these. These were said to have been used on the Mullica River ice fishing,There would have been a dowel or stick running through the hole in the flag when a fish was hooked the flag would point upward. For those who may not know ice Fisherman would set a group of these each in a separate hole in the ice then try to stay warm and wait. Early American living was a challenge those hardy people would eat almost whatever they could catch, shoot or trap to survive the cold winters. Many don't realize many birds we wouldn't dream of eating were fair game, no pun intended.Enquire!
