Very Early Drinking Vessel ,Mug or Can

Weight:1.5 lbs

Very early Mug or Can, it is hard to date exactly but id say its 18th century possibly earlier.Heavey turned brass with a well attached copper handle. The end of the handle is cut into an arrow shape and was never attached at that end.The attachment at the top is strong enough that wasnt neccassary.Much early brass is attributed to the Dutch lands or parts of Europe.I have seen South Jersey Glass mugs in this design made by European workers in America but that is rare.

"Of all the colonial containers used to serve drink of any kind, perhaps the most popular were the small vessels known in the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries as beakers, cans and mugs. "
