This has got to be the best little redware preserve jar that I've ever owned. Just shy of 5 inches at 4 7/8”, expertly formed hand thrown jar decorated with a splash or two of manganese then covered with a clear glaze. The opening has been tooled to accommodate a tiny lid which is missing. A couple tiny chips but no cracks or anything distracting just overall wear from years of use. PA or NJ circa 1850-1880.
