Early Crow decoy made by a well know iold time boat builder in Marthas Vineyard.I purchased it from the daughter of the man Manuel gave it to back in 1946. "In 1946 Manuel Swartz Roberts built a boat for my father. Manuel was a famous boat builder of wooden boats on Martha`s Vineyard and his shop was in Edgartown right where the Chappaquiddick Ferry docks. He also built furniture and decoys. He had the nickname of "the Old Sculpin", which my Dad named his boat.He gave my Mother some things he had carved and one was the crow. She put notes on everything of value to her and that note remains on the crow.He carved it when he was a young boy." That makes this bird about 100 years old. There is an old repair to the beak. The family dog chewd on the beak so a new was was dovetailed in. A very nice and I think interesting repair and story. The letter of cource goes with the bird.
